Organisations that are represented on the AFR’s list must prove that they use innovation to solve everyday business challenges, plus provide an example of a project that demonstrates their commitment to innovation.
This year, the judges were impressed by Landgate’s lifesaving fire consequence mapping technology, a collaboration between the agency, the Department of Fires and Emergency Services and Western Power.
This innovation uses advanced cloud computing capability to predict the impact a bushfire, originating from the south-west network, may have from a single ignition sources like power poles.
The innovation will assist Western Power determine which locations across the network that may pose the largest consequence, saving lives and homes by helping prioritise which assets to maintain first.
Landgate will continue to be a leader in innovation beyond the introduction of a commercial operator for the automated land titling functions.
