The September 2012 Business Activity Profile, released today, shows a continued improvement in the Western Australian property market, according to Landgate, the State's official land information authority.
Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford said the September figures helped bolster the financial year's first quarter result, which saw property activity figures 7.9 per cent higher than the same period of time in 2011/12.
"This is the strongest first quarter result we've seen since the 2009/10 financial year," said Mr Bradford.
Following on from strong activity in July and August, this year's September figures were up 2.7 per cent compared to September 2011.
Mr Bradford said these results were boosted by a sizeable increase in the number of properties being transferred.
"We saw 750 more transfers being lodged in September this year compared to last year, which equates to an increase of 13.7 per cent," said Mr Bradford.
September's figures were 9.2 per cent lower than the previous month, reflecting a normal seasonal reduction in activity for September compared to August.
Landgate's Business Activity Profile covers all property related documents lodged within Landgate and is a barometer of the state of the property market in Western Australia.
The September 2012 Business Activity Profile is available on Landgate's website. It provides the daily average of all documents lodged, with sections detailing transfers, mortgages, caveats, searches and other categories of property related documents.
